Chignell to contest half

Hill City-University runner Oli Chignell will race in the men’s half-marathon at the world road running championships in Copenhagen in September.

He is named in a 13-strong New Zealand team, headlined by Sam Ruthe, Geordie Beamish and Sam Tanner, who will race in the men’s road mile.

Theo Quax, son of late New Zealand distance running great Dick Quax, will make his black singlet debut in the road 5km. Alison Andrews-Paul and Kimberley May have been selected for the road mile and Hannah Gapes will race the road 5km. Toby Gualter, William Little, Connor Melton, Katherine Camp and Georgie Grgec have been selected in the men’s and women’s half-marathons. — Allied Media
