A large Otago contingent are among a 31-strong team selected to represent New Zealand at the world mountain and trail-running championships in Spain in September.

Queenstown’s Sarah Douglas (senior women) and Hill City-University’s Lucas Huia (junior men) are in the mountain running uphill team, and Katie Morgan (Queenstown), Laura Bungard (Leith), Ryan Carr (Queenstown) and Jack Harris (Hill City) were selected in the short trail running squad.

In the long-trail running team, Julia Chamberlain, from the Fiordland club but now based in Dunedin, was selected for the senior women’s team.

Fiordland runner Dwight Grieve was also named in the senior men’s team for short-trail running.
