Kiwi walker Quentin Rew finished 12th in a time of 3:49.32 in the 50km walk at the Rio Olympics.

The 32-year-old was exhausted after finishing, appearing to cramp up after crossing the line and required help from officials after collapsing.

Matej Toth of Slovakia claimed gold after overtaking Australian Jared Tallent with 25 laps remaining. The Australian went on to claim silver, while Japan's Hirooki Arai came in third.
