Basketball enthusiasts will get a chance to play the 3 x 3 version of the game in Dunedin next Sunday.
Otago Girls' High School will host the final South Island leg of the 3 x 3 national tour before it heads to Wellington, Palmerston North and Auckland.
Last year, the Dunedin leg of the tour was held at Forsyth Barr Stadium and 10 teams entered. The trio of Sam King, Tom Rowe and Olly Smith claimed victory in the final.
All players are welcome to sign up and there will be under-14, under-16, under-18 and open men's and women's teams.
Moves are afoot to include the simplified version of the game in the 2020 Olympics, and Basketball New Zealand hopes to expand the national tour significantly in the next few years.
In addition to playing, players who take part in the tour can create an online profile, BBNZ chief executive Iain Potter said.
''This means that players can then enter events, track their results and compare their rankings to their friends and other 3 x 3 players,'' he said.
People can register to play in the Dunedin leg at www.3x3planet.com. Entries close on February 14.
