NBL 3×3 draft positions determined

Otago's National Basketball League 3×3 teams have their draft positions.

The Richie Rodger-captained Otago Nuggets will pick fourth and 17th in the draft, while the Otago Gold Rush, led by Nicole Ruske, will pick ninth and 12th.

Both men's and women's competitions are made up of 10 teams, the majority being NBL teams.

Each team has chosen a captain, who will pick the other three players in a draft to play alongside them in the NBL's two 3×3 competitions.

The draft order for the first two rounds was determined randomly, while the final round will be determined after the selections of the first two rounds.

The Southland Sharks, captained by Johnny Helu, will pick ninth and 12th.

The Southland Storm, led by ANZ Premiership netball star and former Junior Tall Fern Aliyah Dunn, will pick first and 20th.

The first competition is scheduled for October 14-16 in Invercargill and the Christmas Classic is set for December 9-11 in Auckland.

The draft will be held on September 1.

We employ local journalists and photographers to tell your stories, as other outlets cut local coverage in favour of stories told out of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
