The team of Roger Barron, Robbie Thomson and Blair Barringer won four games in the zone 6 competition at the Westpac Indoor Stadium yesterday.
Barron, the winner of 27 South Otago titles, was a steady lead, Thomson was solid in the middle and skip Barringer added the sparkling shots.
The first round on Sunday was played at Taieri but when the green was flooded by the constant rain yesterday's play was transferred to the indoor stadium.
The Fairfield team has now won 12 games on the trot in the competition that started when it won the Bowls Dunedin event.
It won the zone 6 competition with eight points and was followed by Alexandra 6, Waihola (South Otago) and Kia Toa (South Canterbury) 4, Te Rangi (Southland) 2 and Meadowbank (North Otago) 0.
Fairfield beat Alexandra 22-13, Waihola 27-5, Meadowbank 35-5 and Te Rangi 21-15.
The closest game was against the Te Rangi team of Simon Swale, Graham Low and John Flynn.
The game was tight when Te Rangi led 13-11 after 14 of the 18 ends. But the game turned Fairfield's way on the 15th end when it gained a five to lead 16-13.
Te Rangi was down on the head when experienced skip John Flynn drove at the head and put his own bowls into the ditch to be three down. Barringer added two extra shots for Fairfield.
''We were struggling and the five gave us a boost,'' Barringer said, Fairfield clinched the game with a four on the last end.
The Waikiwi team of Wendy Jackson, Michelle Preston and Glenys Paisley won the women's triples with four wins from five games.
Its only loss was a 15-12 defeat at the hands of Phoenix. It was the second win in this year's zone 6 Pathways competition for Jackson, who is a former New Zealand softball representative. She won the mixed pairs with Craig Merrilees and was a solid lead.
Preston, a member of the Black Jacks squad that prepared for the 2006 Commonwealth Games, was solid in the middle. Skip Paisley qualified for the national Pathways final in the singles four years ago.
Before the last game, the Phoenix team of Gail Douglas, Brenda Direen and Kerry Kelly and Waikiwi were first equal with three wins. But Waikiwi had a 12-shot advantage on the differential.
Waikiwi clinched its top position by beating Timaru Town and Country 17-13 in its fifth game. Phoenix was beaten 13-11 by Queenstown in its last game.
The final points were Waikiwi (Southland) 8, Phoenix (North Otago) and Queenstown 6, Timaru Town and Country 4, Green Island and Kaitangata 2.
