A 191-run opening stand for Green Island set up an easy 99-run victory against Kaikorai in the senior club competition on Saturday.

Green Island 302/4 beat Kaikorai 203 by 99 runs

Openers Hamish Rutherford (101) and Greg Croudis (109) took the attack to the Kaikorai bowlers, scoring at almost a run a ball until Rutherford was out caught in the 34th over.

A handy 31 off just 20 balls from Jamie Munro towards the end of the innings ensured Green Island would post a large total, ending up on 302 from its 50 overs.

Kaikorai started the run chase well with an opening stand of 91 and opening batsman Dan Duke scoring a nicely played 73, before Green Island captain Jordan Sheed ran over the middle order, bowling his team to victory. He took six wickets off his nine overs.

Albion 127/8 beat Taieri 126 by two wickets

In what should have been an easy run chase, Albion made life hard for itself in its two-wicket win over Taieri, almost falling short of the 127-run target.

Batting first, Taieri was in trouble from the start with its top three batsmen falling for just 25 runs.

The middle order recovered slightly, taking Albion to 106 for six before another collapse meant it could post only 126.

Paddy Cairns and Nathan Shanks picked up three wickets each.

Albion also had trouble at the start of its innings, at one point three down for just 27, before Jamie Glenn (51) was able to withstand the Taieri attack while his team-mates fell around him.

Glenn's 51 not out was the difference between a loss and win for Albion.

North East Valley 208/7 beat University-Grange 164 by 44 runs

A tight display of bowling from North East Valley proved to be the difference in its 44-run victory over University-Grange on Saturday.

Both Simon Murley (45) and Tristan Eckoff (46) made relatively good totals for Valley, and the rest of the batting line-up pitched in with good starts, to take the team's total to 208 for seven off 50 overs.

University-Grange made a good start.

Alistar Collie (34), Jesse Simpson (26) and Adam Coleman (31) took their team to a good platform of 90 for three off 20 overs.

But that crumbled as the final seven wickets fell for74 runs, leaving it 44 runs short.

Murley took four wickets for 34 runs off his 10 overs.
