The Albion Cricket Club's rooms at Culling Park will be renamed the Warwick Larkins Pavilion to honour the club's late stalwart.
The proposal put forward by secretary-treasurer Tony Buchanan at Tuesday night's annual meeting was a popular one, and little discussion was needed other than for club scorer Helen Simpson to comment the naming was very appropriate.
Larkins, who died in May, became synonymous with the Albion club, putting in 25 years as president, and more than 50 years as a committee member.
Buchanan said the thought ''jumped into'' his head shortly after Larkins died.
''Warwick was obviously a big club man, but the clubrooms themselves were his baby,'' Buchanan said.
''He looked after the whole thing and he did everything inside with the memorabilia.
''We needed something that was fitting. The park itself already has a name so it was fairly straight forward that the Warwick Larkins Pavilion was something that was totally appropriate.''
Buchanan said the next step was to arrange some signage for the entrance to the building as soon as possible.
''I'm thinking of something that's a bit more brassy and bold and looks the part.
''It might be a bit optimistic in the next month, but that would be the hope.''
Larkins' family has provided more memorabilia from his estate which will be sifted through by newly appointed club historian Brian Dixon.
''We'll certainly be looking at how Warwick will be remembered within the clubrooms as well,'' Buchanan said.
