The Sparks won their first title in 51 years last summer, overcoming Auckland in a tense final.
It was a morale-boosting effort for a side which has not always believed in itself.
The Sparks have relied heavily on its stars such as Suzie Bates, Katey Martin and Sarah Tsukigawa but unheralded players such as Victoria Abbott and Caitlin Blakely played a key part in Otago's stunning victory.
''The final last year was so good because everybody in the team contributed rather than it just being the Suzie Bates show,'' Kasperek said.
''So, hopefully, everyone can pull together again this weekend.''
Tonight's twenty20 is effectively a semifinal with the winner securing a home final. A loss will probably spell the end of Otago's title prospects.
Canterbury is expected to win its final round-robin match and would leapfrog Otago on the table.
''Both teams are quite evenly matched so it should be a good game,'' Kasperek said.
''I'm a little bit nervous just because it is such an important game.''
While the twenty20 shapes as the Sparks' best prospect, Otago retains a slim chance of reaching the one-day final.
It will need to record back-to-back bonus point wins against Wellington this weekend and hope Auckland lose both their remaining round-robin games.
Kasperek has been in great touch with the bat in the one-day tournament.
The 22-year-old combined in an Otago record second-wicket partnership of 214, eclipsing the mark set by Bates and Nicole Bolton of 133 in 2012-13.
Kasperek contributed 74 of the runs and played beautifully. But she was there to support Bates.''
Even before Suzie was on 50 she had told me she always wanted to get a double century. So I told her I'd just keep her company while she tried.
''It was pretty good to watch. I had a good seat.''
Bates had to settle for 142 but it was a terrific partnership.
Kasperek has scored three half centuries this season and almost posted her maiden century.
She was undefeated on 95 in the loss to Canterbury earlier in the season.
It is the six-run defeat, not her innings, she remembers the most.
Chasing 202 for victory the Sparks were restricted to 195 for seven.
''I had no idea what I was on because I was busy trying to plan the innings. I had figured out what we needed an over but we just didn't quite get there.''
