The seventh annual Queenstown Schools Cricket Carnival is up and running, featuring a mix of young talent from across Otago, Canterbury and even Australia.

It was also a good way to get people to explore the area, with entire families travelling with some teams.
Mr Mawhinney said the tournament was set apart by the location and what Queenstown offered.
The MVP prize, for example, was a bungy jumping voucher.

He said the first days of the tournament were used to determine the strength of the teams across 110-over declaration games and T20, before wrapping up with 40-over games on Thursday.
