The 27-year-old nailed an inch-perfect penalty in the second spell and added another goal shortly after as the Phoenix downed the Brisbane Roar 3-0 in Wellington today as they moved to second place on the A-League ladder.
Brockie, a fan favourite courtesy of his prolific goal-scoring exploits in his maiden season with the Phoenix in 2012-2013, was given a start in his final game with the club due to the unavailability of Roy Krishna (hamstring) and Nathan Burns (international duty).
The All Whites striker is departing to join SuperSport United in South Africa despite having half a season left on his contract as he struggled to make an impact in coach Ernie Merrick's system.
The Phoenix have said they don't feel they need to replace him and will rely on their depth with the likes of Kenny Cunningham and Tyler Boyd set to push for more game-time.
As he made another run in to the box in the 51st minute, Brockie was fouled by Brisbane goalkeeper Jamie Young and he made no mistake from the spot, while Young copped a yellow card for the spray he gave to the linesman and referee.
Brockie, who was later named man of match, then completed his brace in the 67th, which pleased the healthy crowd of 10,267 at Westpac Stadium.
The Phoenix opened the scoring in the first half through an unlikely source as left back Manny Muscat scored only his third A-League goal in his 155th game.
After he was through on goal the 30-year-old showed a nice touch to finish and he could have doubled his tally for the day only a few minutes later but put his shot wide.
Wellington's accurate passing was on display in the opening stages as they kept the ball for prolonged periods as they wore Brisbane down.
Brisbane, who boast one of the A-League's most frequent goal-scorers in Henrique, struggled to get in to the contest for much of the first half as they were kept under control by a watertight Phoenix defence.
Brockie's penalty gave the Phoenix a handy advantage after the break and when he blasted home his second, the result was sealed as the Phoenix celebrated their 200th A-League game in emphatic fashion.
Given this was the Phoenix's third game in eight days, following wins over Western Sydney and Adelaide, many of their players would have been low on gas but they showed impressive stamina to keep playing at a high level.
The A-League now goes on a three-week break during the Asian Cup that is being played across the Tasman and Wellington's next outing is against the Roar in Brisbane on Monday, February 2.
Considering the Phoenix have banked nine competition points in just over a week they will enjoy their short break safe in the knowledge they're well on their way to earning a home playoff game.
