The last four teams left standing in the competition were randomly drawn into home and away positions in two semifinal matches to be played in two weekend's time.
Dunedin Technical was lucky enough to be the first team drawn out, which landed it a home semifinal against the Auckland based Glenfield Rovers.
That gives the team not only the advantage of playing on its own turf and not having to travel, but the ability to decide which day of the weekend it will play on.
The main benefit of that is that a Saturday match will help alleviate roster pressure. The side has already lost centre-back Kelsey Kennard, who will be overseas by August 26.
''We are juggling player numbers at the moment,'' coach Graeme Smaill said.
''It is really nice to get a home draw. It would have been really tough going up there - we would have played on a Sunday [and] we would have been without another player.''
Smaill described the unavailability of Kennard as a huge loss for the side.
He is also hoping a build-up of injuries through the season will not be made worse as his side lines up in its regular Football South Premier League matches.
''We are really starting to get low on numbers through injuries throughout the season. We really can't afford to get any more injuries between now and the semifinal, that's for sure,'' Smaill said.
Dunedin Technical won its way through to the semifinals of the Knockout Cup with a 3-2 victory over the Canterbury-based Coastal Spirit at the Caledonian Ground on Saturday.
''We were thrilled with that effort. You never know where you sit with teams throughout the country.''
''On Saturday the girls proved to themselves they are at that level where they can compete against those top mainland sides.''
Smaill knows his side has a big task on its hands to down Glenfield Rovers in its semifinal match-up, but he is hopeful the enormity of a national knockout semifinal can help it lift to a victory.
''We certainly know it is going to be another step up. You are talking about teams that are chocker full of both age group and full internationals.''
The Dunedin semifinal winner will play the winner of the Eastern Suburbs and Upper Hutt City semifinal in the tournament's grand final on September 10.
