6th in interprovincials

Otago had to settle for sixth at the New Zealand Women’s Interprovincials.

It was beaten 3-2 by Wellington in the playoff for fifth at the Akarana Golf Club on Saturday.

Otago No 3 Abby Crawford and No 4 Kathryn Baker beat their opponents but fellow team members Sumin Kang, Yoonae Jeong and Rebecca Calder suffered defeats.

Auckland collected its fifth title in a row. It dispatched Canterbury 5-0 in a lopsided final.

Auckland has won nine of the past 10 tournaments.

Auckland No 1 Vivian Lu was awarded player of the tournament honours as she won six of eight games in the top spot.

Her side went through the tournament undefeated.
