Australian rugby league great Allan Langer has been fined and lost his licence for eight months but escaped a conviction for drink driving.
Langer, 43, faced Brisbane Magistrates Court today where he pleaded guilty to the charge.
He was fined $A1000 but his lawyer successfully argued that Langer's coaching career would be seriously affected if a conviction was recorded.
Langer, who played 22 tests for Australia in a 10-year international career, was breath-tested in north Brisbane on March 29. He had a blood alcohol level of 0.156 - three times over the legal limit of .05.
He was later suspended from his position as skills coach of the Brisbane Broncos National Rugby League team.
