Shayne Harris, of Palmerston North, has been elected president of MotorSport New Zealand (MNZ), succeeding Steven Kennedy, who stepped down after 12 years in the role.
A former racer and assistant race director at premier domestic race meetings, Harris is a licensed clerk of the course and steward and has served a wide range of administrative roles since hanging up his race helmet.
Kennedy, from Otautau in Southland, spent 22 years in the national administration of motorsport and will continue to serve in a range of international roles including as a steward for the FIA, a member of the FIA's World Touring Car Commission and as chairman of the Asia Pacific Rally Championship.
