Dunedin driver Mike Wallace and Tony Quinn, from Highlands, were an integral part of the New Zealand team which won the 2025 Transtasman Challenge Trophy against a formidable Australian team loaded with past and present touring car masters drivers.

The New Zealand team of 15 drivers and their support crew had an amazing weekend at Sandown, with 70,000 in public attendance and 198,000 at Bathurst.

The New Zealand team, in the final of the two rounds, won the trophy.

Triston Teki (New Zealand) won the first trophy race at Bathurst from a good grid position.

He had top support from Wallace, Angus Fogg and Rob Lewis.

Wallace was the top New Zealand qualifier in the Kiwi lineup by 8sec and the 10th qualifier overall out of the 34 cars.

Teki won in the second round of the trophy race at Sandown from yet another good grid position.

Once again, he had good support from Fogg and Wallace, who finished following each other in fourth and fifth.

Wallace started from 22nd and drove through the field up to fourth. He was dicing with Fogg in the late stages of the race when Fogg pulled off a surprise move on Wallace to take fourth place.

The overall New Zealand team honours went to Fogg, Teki and Wallace.

In all eight races, Wallace was the second-fastest of the Kiwi cars on average over both events and eighth-fastest on average of all 34 cars.
