Crampton, who had a long tenure with the Southern Steel and later the Northern Stars, has signed a two-week contract with the Mainland Tactix as injury cover for captain Erikana Pedersen.
Pedersen has been managing a shoulder injury since the defending champions’ clash against the Waikato-Bay of Plenty Magic in round three.
Crampton recently wrapped up with the NSW Swifts, where she provided maternity cover for Australian Diamond Paige Hadley, and previously signed with the Giants in 2025 before going on maternity leave herself.
The 34-year-old last played in New Zealand in 2023 after taking extended leave to join her partner, former All Black Sevens and Otago back Fa’asiu Fuatai, who was playing overseas.
Tactix coach Donna Wilkins said Crampton, who amassed 70 caps for the Silver Ferns from 2016 to 2023, added experience to their mid court.
“Gina is going to be huge for us” Wilkins said.
“She not only gives us extra options on the court but with Kana [Pedersen] being unavailable for the last few weeks, her experience is going to be a big asset to my young middies.
“The chance for our team to learn and play alongside her is super exciting. I can’t wait to see her run around with this group at training.”
Crampton joins fellow former Silver Ferns Leana de Bruin and Casey Kopua, who have returned this season, alongside Grace Kukutai and Kate Walsh.
