Dunedin athlete Victoria Beck has had a top-10 finish at the world duathlon championships in Zofigen, Switzerland.
Beck (26) finished seventh in the women's pro elite race over a hilly 10km run, 150km cycle, 30km run course.
She was leading the field at the end of the first run but dropped down on the bike section.
Beck moved back up the field over the final run to claim seventh, two places behind fellow New Zealander Elina Ussher.
It was Beck's first race over this distance.
She took a conservative approach to the bike section as she was unsure how she would handle the final run.
In the final run, Beck passed several other professional athletes and was very pleased with her results.
Erika Csomor (Hungary) won her sixth women's title, and Joerie Vansteelant (Belgium) won the men's race.
New Zealander Richard Ussher was eighth in the men's event.
