Neptune was named top South Island club, and Otago won the overall title.
Osca swimmers (27 from Neptune, two from Taieri and one from Zenith) broke 14 Otago records and 16 South Island records in the new pool at Timaru, while Waves swimmers broke one Otago record and three South Island records.
The medal tally was also impressive. Osca swimmers won 33 gold, 23 silver and 29 bronze medals and Waves swimmers added eight gold, eight silver and two bronze.
Combined open relay teams had South Island record-breaking swims in the 4x50m freestyle, 4x50m medley, 4x100m freestyle and 4x100m medley.
There were also some outstanding performances from Queenstown and Wanaka swimmers.
Neptune was the top South Island club with 788 points. Canterbury clubs Aquagym (498 points) and QEII (386) rounded out the top three.
One of the star performers was Osca swimmer Andrew Trembath, who broke seven Otago short-course records in the male 14-15 division.
Trembath set new marks in the 200m breaststroke (2min 24.65sec), 100m freestyle (53.63sec), 100m backstroke (57.73sec), 50m breaststroke (30.35sec) and 100m butterfly (57.83sec).
He also broke Sam Carradus' 1998 400m individual medley record of 4min 40.16sec, with a time of 4min 36.68sec, and broke Jonathan Duncan's 1997 200m medley record of 2min 12.97sec with a time of 2min 7.14sec.
Trembath broke South Island records in the 400m medley, 50m backstroke, 100m backstroke, 100m medley (2min 3.67sec), 100m butterfly, 200m medley, 50m freestyle (24.60sec) and 50m breaststroke.
Kurt Crosland (Osca) broke Otago and South Island open short-course records in the 50m backstroke (25.42sec), 100m backstroke (53.63sec), 200m backstroke (1min 59.27sec), 50m breaststroke (29.11sec) and 100m medley (55.96sec).
Kate Godfrey (Osca) also had a good meet, breaking Otago open records in the 100m backstroke (1min 1.72sec) and 200m backstroke (2min 11.93sec) and South Island records in the 400m medley (4min 44.64sec), 100m butterfly (1min 2.57sec) and 200 medley (2min 16.03sec).
Thomas Heaton had some superb results for the Waves club in the 13 and under division.
He won four gold medals (400m medley, 200m freestyle, 1500m freestyle, 400m freestyle) and two silver medals (100m medley, 100m butterfly).
He broke his own Otago record in the 1500m freestyle - his time of 16min 43.16sec was a personal best by 13.27sec - and broke South Island records in the 1500m freestyle, 400m medley (4min 56.34sec) and 400m freestyle (4min 21.06sec).
Fellow Waves swimmer Caitlin Deans starred in the equivalent girls grade, winning three golds (400m medley, 800m freestyle and 400m freestyle) and two silvers (200m freestyle and 200m butterfly), while Jack Turner won the 16 and over 1500m freestyle.
Two Wanaka swimmers did exceptionally well. Kenzie Findlay (13 and under) won gold in the 100m freestyle, 100m medley and 50m freestyle, and also medalled in the 400m medley, 50m butterfly, 200m freestyle, 50m backstroke, 200m medley, 400m freestyle, 100m butterfly and 50m freestyle. In the same grade, Sophie Fairburn won the 50m breaststroke and 100m breaststroke.
Sophie Gibson, of Queenstown (14-15), won gold in the 400m medley and 200m butterfly, and also medalled in the 100m backstroke, 200m medley, 100m medley, 200m backstroke and 100m butterfly.
