Filly seeking the perfect score

Timeless Perfection, who made a splendid impression when she won her only start, looks an anchor for the $100,000 TAB Pick6 at Addington tonight.

The Christian Cullen 2yr-old won over 1950m (mobile) at Addington last Tuesday week by five lengths in a 2.01.9 mile rate.

Timeless Perfection had shown ability for trainer Brendon Hill and he summonsed driver Ricky May to drive her at her only trials appearance.

She won that trial at Addington on June 17 in 2.30.4 for the 2000m (mobile), a 2.00.9 mile rate, and May was suitably impressed.

Her time in the trial was only 3.3sec outside the New Zealand record for a 2yr-old filly.

"We were going to turn her out after her last race but she has done so well we decided to give her one more," Hill said.

"We are not concerned about the draw [six] as she is still learning. We knew she would get the outside gate as it is a preferential draw race.

"Ricky will drop her back and take a sit. We have found that the Christian Cullens get wound up if you fire them out of the gate and she is still at the educating stage.

"She will have spell after tonight and hopefully she can feature in the big 3yr-old fillies races next season."

Timeless Perfection was bred by Cavalla Bloodstock, whose principal, Robert Famularo, purchased her dam Sirius Flight and granddam Pacific Flight from the United States.

Timeless Perfection is the second foal of Sirius Flight (The Big Dog-Pacific Flight).

She won five races in the US.

Timeless Perfection was bred at Famularo's Dancingonmoonlight Farm stud, Kaiapoi.

Pacific Flight (Vance Hanover-Significant), won 47 races.

She won nine races in New Zealand in the mid-1990s for co-breeder Roy Purdon who trained her in partnership with his son, Barry.

She won another 38 races in the US, where she set a mile time of 1.51.2.

Sirius Flight is her first foal.

Timeless Perfection faces a stern task tonight starting from seven over the 1950m (mobile) but has the class to overcome it.

The in-form Franco Jamar and the talented Alta Crusade start inside her.

Franco Jamar finished second to the promising Smiling Shard two starts back.

Smiling Shard won the Harness Jewels in May.

Franco Jamar finished second to Tara Royale at his last start on June 28.

Alta Crusade was a beaten favourite at Forbury Park at his only start when he broke.

Scot's Courage showed his potential when he came from last on the turn to storm home and win at Rangiora at his last start on June 28.

On that effort, he warrants respect in the second leg of Pick6 tonight.

The Courage Under Fire 4yr-old has had two wins, three seconds and a third from nine starts for trainer Robbie Holmes.

Pacific Fleet and Centreofattention have shown enough in recent starts to be worthy of consideration.

Band On The Run should make up for his unplaced effort at his last start.

He got pushed back and was unable to secure a clear run in the straight at Forbury Park on June 26.

He had won his previous three starts.

• Flashing Red, who won the New Zealand Trotting Cup in 2006 and 2007, is to stand at stud at Roydon Lodge, Templeton in the spring.

The rising 12yr-old son of Echelon and Courvy Kazi won 38 races, six in New Zealand when trained by Tim Butt and Phil Anderson, and 32 in Australia.

He also recorded 57 placings from 171 starts and earned stakes of $2,105,857.

He ran the 3200m in a NZ record of 3.57.8 (1.59.5 mile rate) when he won the NZ Cup in 2007.

That time was bettered by Changeover in 3.56.4 (a 1.58.8 mile rate) last year.

Flashing Red won the 2007 Auckland Cup in New Zealand record time of 3.17.2 for the 2700m (mobile) and the 2006 Ashburton Flying Stakes in a NZ record of 2.55.1 for the 2400m (mobile).

He will stand at a fee of $1500.
