The striking 5yr-old grey gelding made it two wins in the South Island since he arrived from the North Island where trainers Mike Moroney and Chad Orsmby had gathered two wins from 18 starts with the son of Postponed.
Part-owner Brian Sim, who runs Sim's Bakery in Ashburton, has been taken aback by how quickly Ghostinthemachine has adapted to his new surroundings at trainer David Hutton's property near Pleasant Point.
''I thought he'd go all right today, but I didn't expect him to do what he did today - he's just a brilliant horse,'' Sim said.
The deal was done after Ghostinthemachine ran third at Hastings on New Year's Day, and he instantly rewarded Sim and his fellow Ashburton-based owners, Murray Laplanche, Stu and Alysha Verrall, Jill Quigley and Ross and Vicki Stackhouse, plus Hutton's wife Terri.
''He only arrived here one week and was racing in a 1200m race Ascot Park the next week, and he just clean-bowled them,'' Sim said.
''It doesn't matter what the distance is, either - 1200m, 1400m, 1600m, it doesn't seem to bother him.''
Sim is now turning his attention to Wingatui on Saturday, where Biddedo will resume after winning two of her seven starts in her first campaign.
She is one of four progeny of the Canadian stallion Edenwold in work with Hutton for Sim and other owners.
