Imananabaa is on target to resume racing at Hastings on September 20 after a trial win at Te Teko yesterday.

"We have been taking our time and given her a nice build up," Don Sellwood, her Cambridge trainer, said.

It was her third trial in a fresh preparation.

She has not raced since April.

Imananabaa, winner of the group one Railway Handicap at Ellerslie in January, is in a $50,000 1300m race for mares at Hastings.

Gavin McKeon has ridden Imananabaa in her last two trials with a view to taking the mount at Hastings.

Andrew Calder rode the Anabaa mare in the Railway.

Special Mission, who won a 1000m trial yesterday, is also set to resume in the 1300m handicap for mares at Hastings.

Special Mission, who has not raced since April, won the group one New Zealand Breeders' Stakes (weight-for-age 1600m) at Te Aroha and the Westbury Classic (1400m) at Ellerslie last season.

"She has been set for the Captain Cook Stakes and the path she will take will be determined after Hastings," Peter McKay, her Matamata trainer, said.

The Captain Cook Stakes, a group one wfa 1600m, is at Trentham on October 25.

Stablemate Kay's Awake finished a close second to Talisman in a 1000m trial yesterday.

"She will derive a lot of benefit from the run. She was a bit burly and the slow track did not suit her," McKay said.

Kay's Awake was runner-up in the Telegraph Handicap and Lightning Stakes at Trentham, the Waikato Sprint at Te Rapa and the Lion Red Plate at Rotorua last seasonMcKay has Vincent Mangano resuming in the $60,000 Wanganui Guineas (1340m) on Saturday.

"I am wary of the track," McKay said.

The Wanganui track was a heavy 10 yesterday.

"He has been working nicely and has won a trial [Te Teko, August 5]."

Vincent Mangano won the Karaka Million at Ellerslie in January, the Wellesley Stakes at Trentham and the listed Newell Stakes at Ellerslie last season.

He won first up on a heavy track at Avondale.

Vinnie Colgan, who rode him in the $1 million race, has the mount on Saturday.

• Altered Image has been under veterinary treatment for a laceration to a hind leg since his lacklustre run at Hastings on Saturday.

He was being tried without blinkers.

• Stewart Moir was suspended for four riding days until midnight on September 17 for careless riding at Oamaru last Friday.

Shankar Muniandy was suspended from Friday until October 4 for failing to ride out Calene, who was beaten a nose for third.

Lance Robinson was fined $200 for excessive use of the whip on the winner Yasemin.

Moir, riding Nicholman, admitted shifting in and checking Sticky Fingers at the 2400m in the hurdles.

Muniandy admitted relaxing his ride on Calene a stride from the winning post.

Capecover and Referred travelled to Melbourne yesterday for assignments this weekend, NZPA reports.

• Capecover will be nominated for a $A75,000 open 2000m at Flemington on Saturday.

Referred is in the $A100,000 Golden Mile at Bendigo on Sunday.

Capecover, winner of the group three Metropolitan Handicap (2500m) at Riccarton in November, ran third behind Katy Keen and Samurai in the open 1600m at Hastings on Saturday.

Capecover has been nominated for the Caulfield Cup.

His trainer Alexander Fieldes said a more likely target was the $A600,000 Metropolitan Handicap (2400m) at Randwick on October 4.

Referred, second to Boundless in the New Zealand Oaks in March, has been nominated for the Caulfield Cup.

Her trainer Bill Thurlow said there were other options.
