Racing: Knight rates chances of Tartan Trilogy

Second time should be a charm with Tartan Trilogy at Winton tomorrow.

The Mach Three gelding's co-trainer, Geoff Knight, was very bullish about the 3yr-old's chances after his debut run for third at Forbury Park on May 10.

Tartan Trilogy impressed when qualifying at Forbury Park on March 23, and Knight said his debut run was a big ask on debut.

''He ran third in that up-to-1-win grade. This is back to maidens on Sunday and it's a good draw,'' Knight said.

''His work the other morning was really, really good so I expect a big run from him.''

Tartan Trilogy is owned by Dr Onn Chin of Mosgiel, who bred the gelding from his group -winning mare Tartan Lady.

Knight is not quite as confident with Hez My Brother, who makes his debut in a 2400m maiden pace. The Elsu gelding qualified at Forbury Park in April, running second to stablemate Marjory Winifred who debuted with a sixth at Forbury Park on May 10.

''He's a horse in progress, really.

''He'll get there, but whether it's this week - he worked well this week but he could be one to follow.''

Of Knight's other runners, he has plenty of time for Expressionist who takes on stablemate Bronze Hero and nine others in a 2-win 2400m pace.

''He's a lovely 3yr-old and got a nice draw. Two on the second line is going to suit him.

''There's a couple of nice ones in there, but he wouldn't be out of the hunt.''
