O'Cartier and Coup Bloomsbury who dead-heated for first in the Stewards' Handicap at Riccarton 12 months ago, renew rivalry in the race today with the same riders.

Noel Harris is aboard O'Cartier and David Walsh is on Coup Bloomsbury.

O'Cartier advanced his claim when he finished second to Our Umaga in the Pegasus Handicap (1000m) at Riccarton on Saturday.

He has 56.5kg, 3kg more than he carried last year.

Coup Bloomsbury, unplaced in three starts as a 7yr-old, has 54.5kg, the weight he carried last year.

Our Umaga has 58kg, the weight he mastered in the Pegasus.

He was unplaced in the Stewards' last year.

Clifton Prince confirmed his liking for Riccarton when he finished third on Saturday.

He won the Stewards' in 2005 and 2006 under 56.5kg and 58kg.

He has 57kg today.

James McDonald, the leading apprentice, has the mount.

Mufhasa and leading jockey Sam Spratt should be a formidable combination in the $300,000 Coupland's Bakeries Mile.

Mufhasa, the winner of eight of his 17 starts, made the grade over 1600m at his last start at Te Rapa.

Vosne Romanee and Lunus give Awapuni trainer Jeff Lynds a useful hand in the race.

Vosne Romanee has raced once in a fresh campaign for a third to Mufhasa and Bulginbaah over 1400m at Hastings on October 4.

Michael Coleman has retained the mount.

Vosne Romanee won the Rangitikei Cup over 1600m at Awapuni in May.

Lunus won a rating 90 1600m at Riccarton on Saturday.

Lisa Allpress takes the mount with Noel Harris switching to Fritzy Boy.

Allpress is fourth in the riders' premiership with 26 wins this season.

South Island stables have won three of the four runnings of the Coupland's Mile.

They are well represented today with Tipulater, O'Reilly Rose, Flight Point and Titsgittin in contention.
