The 3yr-old rig remained in the West Melton stable of Martin Larter. The Blazing Conman ran fifth in the New Zealand Trotting Stakes from six starts as a 2yr-old.
He ran fifth at Oamaru on Sunday, the same day his half-sister, Hozatforasundon, won. The Blazing Conman is the last of three foals left by Ceemeetrot, an unraced mare who was bred from by Lex and Heather Williams, of Waimate.
Favourites were out of the money in the first four races last night, three of them driven by Dexter Dunn. He bounced back to win the next two races with Donegal Delight and Mantovani.
It was the third win in her last four starts for the 3yr-old filly Donegal Delight, raced by Murray Boyd, of Kaikoura.
The 9yr-old Mantovani, trained by Diane Hari, had been off the winning list for four and a-half years. The Sundon gelding had his other two wins when trained by Michelle Wallis at Waiuku.
Mantovani has been with Hari for 13 months after being bought by Kapa Hari out of the stable of Clarrie Woodward.
Amber Jenkins drove Berbizier and Bressingham to win last night. Both horses are trained by her father, Ray.
The clerk of the course, Graeme Mee, did well to catch the driverless Moon Boyz in race one. The favourite lost his driver, Paul Court, just after the start when badly checked.
A Yamanin Vital-Personalize colt offered by Brian and Lorraine Anderton of White Robe Lodge sold for $35,000 on the final day of the select yearling sale at Karaka yesterday. The buyer was Scott Richardson Bloodstock Ltd of Auckland.
The Andertons also sold a Gallant Guru-Laura Dee colt to trainer Kevin Myers for $25,000.
