So You Think dies at 19

Dual Cox Plate winner So You Think has has died aged 19.

The New Zealand-bred son of High Chaparral won the Cox Plate (2040m) as a 3-year-old at just his fifth start and went on to win another four group 1 races in Australia for training great Bart Cummings, carrying Dato Tan Chin Nam’s famous silks, including defending his crown in the Cox Plate.

He was described by Cummings as "perfection on four legs. You don’t get any better than him. He is the finest, most genuine horse I have ever traine".

So You Think continued his racing career in the northern hemisphere for Irish trainer Aidan O’Brien, for whom he won a further five group 1 races before retiring to stud at Coolmore.

He proved a prolific producer, siring 66 stakes winners and 12 group 1 winners to date. — LOVERACING.NZ News Desk
