Dunedin Premier Rugby - final scores

Taieri produced some sparkling rugby in difficult conditions at the start and end of the game to beat University 38-14 in Peter Johnstone Park today.

The Eels regained the Sapsford Memorial Trophy thanks to their forward pack, which smashed the students in the first quarter.

University fought back well to trail just 20-14 at the break, but Taieri lifted as the gloom set in and put the game away with nice tries to Caleb Leef and Rory van Vugt in the final minutes.

Green Island and Alhambra-Union produced the first draw in Dunedin premier rugby this season, finishing 20-20 at Miller Park.

Dunedin beat Kaikorai 23-15 at Kettle Park, and Harbour edged Zingari-Richmond 22-12 at Montecillo.

In secondary schools rugby, King’s beat St Kevin’s 48-0, South Otago beat Otago Boys’ 2nd XV 36-26, Mt Aspiring beat Wakatipu 48-18, and Dunstan beat Taieri College 36-22. The Waitaki-Otago Boys’ 1sts XV game was postponed due to illness.
