The Eels dominated the forward exchanges and loose forward Leroy Ferguson crossed for three tries.

At Bathgate Park, Southern scored four unanswered tries in the second half to beat Green Island 20-3.

First five Jack Leslie mastered the breeze with his kicking game to keep his forwards on the front foot.

University edged Zingari-Richmond 17-12 at the University Oval and Harbour beat Dunedin 5-0 in a low-scoring encounter at Watson Park.
