Rugby: Otago Boys' beat Dunstan

Otago Boys' High School 2nd XV made the most of a strong first half, holding on to win 38-31 over Dunstan High School in the Southern Wide Real Estate 1st XV competition today.

Otago Boys' coach John Faulks said it was a good game in which his team played well in the first half, while Dunstan came back and were strong after the break.

"It was a good game," Faulks said.

"We sort of had control in the first half and played alright in the second. They played better [in the second half] and came back at us and got close, but just ran out of time really."

He was highly complimentary of the Otago Boys' forwards, but also offered praise for the Dunstan backline.

"Our forwards played well and their backs didn't play too badly," he remarked.

In other games John McGlashan College pulled off the shock of the season, downing the previously unbeaten South Otago High School by 49-5.

Mount Aspiring College beat the Otago Boys' High School 3rd XV 43-33, while West Otago edged out Taieri College 31-30.
