Traditional rugby rivals Southern and Dunedin shared the spoils on the final day of club competition at the University Oval on Saturday.

The old firm split the premier colts and premier two titles as a crowd of cross-town supporters fronted to barrack for the city clubs.

The Southern Magpies crowned an unbeaten premier colts season (15 wins) with a 26-12 win over the Dunedin Makos, avenging their finals loss to the same side last year.

Magpies centre and vice-captain Nathan Cargo scored a breakaway try, running 60m to outpace a pack of chasing Dunedin defenders and clinch the victory for the Southern side midway through the second half.

The Magpies were reduced to 13 men for the final minutes of the match, but maintained their defensive line to keep the Makos tryless in the torrid encounter.

In the premier two final, Sep Masoe kicked Dunedin to a 19-12 win over Southern, in a match which featured a sole try from Simon Conrad, of Dunedin.
