Poverty Bay rugby captain Scott Leighton is right to wonder where his rugby team can find 57 points in a week.
Leighton sat out today's Heartland Championship rugby match Wanganui in Wanganui due to suspension and was a pained spectator as the hosts won 56-0.
He will be back to lead his side in next Saturday's Meads Cup semifinal in Wanganui, but after an eight tries to nil hammering he can only speak with halting conviction.
"The semifinal is a whole new ball game," Leighton said. "We have to look forward and not back." Poverty Bay struck Wanganui in a hot mood today, probably only winning the first six or seven minutes and only because Wanganui did not have the ball at this time.
Once the Wanganui scrum took over with its total domination, and the loose forwards outpointed Poverty Bay, the inside back threesome of Denning Tyrell, Leon Mason and Steelie Koro subjected Poverty Bay to intense torture over the next 74 minutes.
They manipulated huge holes in the visitors' defence and Cameron Crowley, Aseali Tikoirotuma and teenager Waisake Ratuideuba took over.
The only real worry to Wanganui is a foot injury to the competition's top tryscorer, fullback Fraser Middleton -- when he went over for his 11th try of the season -- and an ankle problem for his replacement Sam Scown.
If they are not right for the semifinal, coach Guy Lennox is faced with a difficult task because he doesn't want to place outstanding attacking weapon Tikoirotuma at No 15.
