Otago winger Te Atawhai Campbell set up camp in the corner long enough to expect a rent bill this week.

She crashed her way over for four tries to help her side thrash Tasman 58-11 at Forsyth Barr Stadium on Friday.

Campbell made it look easy, like it was just catch and dive. But there was always someone in the way to bump off or dispatch with a fend.

Her fourth try, well, there is just no way she should have scored that. She towed three or four players over the line with her and somehow managed to get it down.

Seasoned hooker Tegan Willocks grabbed a couple of tries in a strong stint off the bench.

It was a brutal watch for the visiting fans.

Earlier, dangerous Otago winger Zaria Murray fended off her marker and jigged her way around another couple of defenders on a sparkling 50m run, halted only by a desperate ankle tap from former Otago back-up halfback Dallas McKnight.

That opportunity was lost. But the Spirit kept giving the ball air and Campbell went over in the left corner for her first.

Tasman took a long turn searching for a reply.

Otago’s defence held up, so Tasman first five Lucy Hall snapped a penalty instead.

That defence was pressed back into action straight away. Otago could not get hold of the ball and Hall slotted a second penalty from more or less the same spot.

Twenty minutes had slipped by, but when Otago finally got some ball inside the Tasman red zone, they converted with ease.

Second five Naomi Sopoaga sent the defenders the wrong way and ran in from 10m out.

She set up another with a wonderful offload to centre Charlotte Va’afusuaga, who got it to Campbell, who finished off in the same corner.

Kim Lammers had stepped off her left to score for Tasman midway through the spell.

But Otago prop Eilis Doyle crashed over late to give her side a comfortable 26-11 at the break.

Campbell completed her hat-trick early in the second. She was on the end of the chain again.

No-one was stopping her that close to the line.

No-one was stopping lock Olivia Gill either. She leapt over the ruck to score.

Murray was rewarded with a five-pointer as well. The speedster had to muscle that one over.

Tasman were gassed and the score mounted.

Their scrum was stuck in reverse.

They dropped off tackle after tackle.

And they could not stop Campbell. But, well, who could.
