The next generation of male hockey stars is battling it out in Dunedin this week.
The city is hosting the national under-18 men’s championships.
It got under way at the weekend and concludes on Saturday.
Otago has entered an A and a B side, while Southland and Central Otago are also flying the flag for the South.
Central Otago recorded a 7-0 loss to Auckland Blue on Saturday evening and followed up with a 3-0 to Tauranga yesterday.
Otago B lost to North Harbour 1 9-0.
The women’s under-18 nationals are in Auckland and got under way yesterday.
Otago has been drawn in pool C and beat Tauranga 4-2.
Central Otago and Southland are in pool D.
Southland was thrashed 11-0 by Canterbury B and Central Otago lost 1-0 to Wairarapa.
