Arrest after man allegedly threatened person with tomahawk

A man has been arrested in the central city after allegedly threatening a person with a tomahawk. 

Police were called to Oxford Tce near Antigua St about 7.50am on Friday.

A fight between the man and another turned serious when he allegedly pulled a tomahawk from his backpack, said a police spokeswoman.

She said the man was arrested for threatening behaviour and charged with possessing an offensive weapon.

He is expected to appear in the district court on Friday afternoon.
