A section of State Highway 76 in Christchurch had to be closed on Monday night after a two-car crash brought the power lines down.
The crash was reported to police about 8pm on Port Hills Rd (SH76), between Chapmans Rd and Vega Pl.
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi said SH76 was temporarily closed while the power lines were restored.
"State Highway 76 fully re-opened near Chapmans Rd at approximately 9.15pm last night," NZTA said in an update this morning.
Fire and Emergency NZ crews from the Woolston station were also called to the scene.
