Lightning may have been the cause of two fires in Canterbury, says Fire and Emergency NZ.
Both fires happened within minutes of each other at about 7.40am on Wednesday.
An Ohoka farmer on Ashworths Rd reported scrub smouldering, while in Hororata a small hedge fire was reported.
Fire and Emergency NZ spokesman Brent Dunn said it appeared the fires were caused by a lightning strikes.
