Man evades police then crashes into fence

A man has been arrested after leading police on a pursuit and crashing into a fence.

A police spokeswoman said officers indicated for the car to stop at 3:29am on Friday.

The driver fled and police followed briefly before abandoning the pursuit.

The vehicle was then found on Beach Rd in New Brighton where it had crashed into a fence. The driver was located nearby and arrested.

A 24-year-old man was charged with failing to stop and driving in a dangerous manner and is due to appear in district court on September 26.

Police also stopped a vehicle believed to be stolen in Linwood about 3:15am.

The car was towed and three people were arrested and are due to appear in the district court on Friday with charges related to driving, theft, disorderly behaviour and existing warrants.
