One person has died after a truck collided with a tree in North Canterbury.
Police said in a statement they were alerted to the crash in Culverden Rd (State Highway 7), Culverden, about noon today.
"It appears a truck has struck a tree. Sadly, the driver of the truck, who was the sole occupant, was located deceased at the scene."
No other vehicles were involved.
The road remained closed while the Serious Crash Unit completed a scene examination.
The NZ Transport Agency advised that SH7 was open between School Rd and Long Plantation Rd, with Stop/Go traffic management in place.
"Expect delays through the area."
Police were making inquiries into the circumstances of the crash.
