The Otago Girls’ High School rowing club provided an added bonus to selling raffle tickets in the store last week.
Punters could also have a go on an erg machine while buying a raffle.
Mrs Forgie, a long-time masters rower, was one who got on board.
The rowing machine worked for one eager Port Chalmers resident who went into the store to buy some bananas.
He then had a short row and bought a raffle ticket.
He ended up winning the first prize, a grocery voucher and clothes.
The rowing club raised about $5000 to help buy equipment.
