Aimee and Chris Keogh were married at "The Packing Shed" in Clyde on the 21st of January 2012.
We both grew up in Dunedin but have been living in Australia for the past year. We returned home to NZ for our January 21st wedding in Clyde.
Where/when we met: Chris and I went to the same intermediate (Tahuna) and high schools (Bayfield) but it wasn't until our final year at school that our relationship began. During our school musical our characters had to kiss as part of the show "Back to the 80's" and that was really the beginning of our love story. So 7 and a half years later we got married!
Proposal: Happened on Christmas Day on holiday in Thailand in 2009. Chris surprised me with a gorgeous ring that he had been nervously carrying around in his pack for the previous few days. We were on a roof-top deck overlooking the River Kwai.
Wedding: Our wedding was held at "The Packing Shed" just out of Clyde. We were able to have both the ceremony and reception there which was great.
Why: The gardens at The Packing Shed are beautiful, we loved the relaxed atmosphere but the main thing that drew us to our decision is the incredible food that they serve. We always wanted an outside wedding so thought that the weather was more reliable in Central Otago than Dunedin. Chris' parents now live just down the road from The Packing Shed. Central Otago also provided a stunning backdrop for our photos.
Dress: Was purchased from House of Kavina. It was made by Halo - which is an Australian brand. Strapless duping silk gown with ruched bodice, rosettes on the bust and subtle bubble train. I had no intentions of buying an extravagant dress but fell in love with it as soon as I tried it on and it made Mum cry! I really felt very special wearing it.
Bridesmaid dresses: Were made by my mum, they were red and looked absolutely beautiful on my 4 bridesmaids.
Flowers: The peony roses were bought direct from a wholesaler - Omeo Peonies and my mum transformed them into lovely bouquets. It was a bit of a risk as the peony season had finished so our flowers were stored in a cool store for around 6wks!
Food: The packing shed is a restaurant so they created our delicious menu. We had a selection of delicious canapés, for our main we had both slow-roasted beef and a rack of lamb, followed by a citrus tart for dessert. My mum made our wedding cake which was made up of banana cake and chocolate mud cake.
Photographer: Tim Hawkins of Central Lakes Photography who was absolutely brilliant. We could not have asked for anything more.
Highlight of the day: Hmmmm... that is a hard question. The whole day was just perfect and we had an incredible amount of fun with 80 close friends & family. I did very much enjoy when Chris sang one of my favorite songs with the band in the evening.
