Dunedin-based Craigs Investment Partners investment adviser Michael Milne has been shortlisted for the Financial Services Institute of Australasia's (Finsia) Pinnacle Awards.
Only two New Zealanders have made the short list: Mr Milne (25) was nominated in the "most outstanding young professional" category, while Liontamer Investments co-managing director Janine Starks, from Christchurch, is in the "most outstanding thought leader" category.
After graduating from the University of Otago with a bachelor of commerce, majoring in finance and economics, Mr Milne worked for Greenslades Ltd, which was later acquired by Craigs Investment Partners.
When contacted yesterday, he said he was "pretty happy" to be shortlisted, alongside 10 Australians. "Even if I don't win, at least the All Blacks beat them," he quipped.
With a particular interest in New Zealand and Australian equities, he regularly presents sharemarket updates for TV1 Business Breakfast and the noon news bulletin.
The award winners will be announced at a gala dinner in Australia on October 25. The judging panel includes New Zealander Sir John Anderson, who is chairman of Television New Zealand and PGG Wrightson.
