Fuel retailer Waitomo has entered the Gore fuel market, opening its latest fuel stop, in Main St, yesterday.

The unmanned 24-hour fuel stop is on the site of Curson Motors Caltex Gore, which closed late last year after being owned by Maree and Mel Gentle since 1991.

At the time, Mrs Gentle said it was not economical to keep it going.

There were seven fuel outlets for a population of about 9000.

The local Lions Club ran a barbecue on site yesterday and a cent for every litre pumped in the first three months would be given to the club.
