One person has died in a crash on Lewis Pass Road on Thursday afternoon.

Emergency services were notified at 1.05pm that a car had left the road between Rogers Crescent and Hanmer Springs Road.

The driver, who was the sole occupant of the car, died in the crash, police said in a statement.

Motorists should expect delays as the Serious Crash Unit conducted an examination of the scene.
