CD review: Soulwax

The first studio album from Soulwax since brothers Stephen and David Dewaele released  Nite Versions in 2005, From Deewee is a road-trip through a landscape festooned with vintage synthesisers, where attention to sonic and textural detail is clearly as important as its minimalist lyrical structure.

Boasting a diverse list of remix projects, from Tame Impala, Arcade Fire to Daft Punk, the duo adopted a "live" approach here, recording the entire album in one take.

It’s an impressive effort, encapsulated by the Do You Want To Get Into Trouble?, on which a spare, staccato intro gives way to a pulsing robot-funk.

• Soulwax. From Deewee. Play It Again Sam.
