CD review: Tiny Ruins

Formed as a solo project in 2009 by songwriter Hollie Fullbrook, Tiny Ruins has expanded to include bassist Cass Basil and drummer Alexander Freer.

Still, these additions do nothing to detract from Fullbrook's delicately phrased songs.

Tiny Ruins might have spent much of the past three years touring throughout Australia, Europe and the US, but the intimacy of debut album Some Were Meant For Sea has not been lost, Fullbrook continuing to work on her finger-picking chops and a warm, understated vocal delivery that provides more than a hint of warmth to her introspective lyricism.

  • Tiny Ruins. Brightly Painted One. Spunk. 3 stars (out of 5)
