DSO’s 60th celebrated in grand fashion

Soprano soloist Anna Leese (left) and mezzo-soprano Deborah Humble perform Symphony No 2 (Resurrection) by Gustav Mahler, backed by New Zealand and Dunedin combined symphony orchestras conducted by James Judd, in a concert celebrating the DSO’s 60th anniversary at the Dunedin Town Hall last night.

They were accompanied by a 150-member enlarged City Choir Dunedin, who were joined by singers from All Saints Church, Choirs Aotearoa, Highland Harmony, Knox Church, Logan Park High School, Octagon Ensemble, King’s & Queen’s High Schools, Royal Dunedin Male Choir, Southern Consort of Voices, Southern Youth Choir, St Joseph’s Cathedral and St Paul’s Cathedral.

Dunedin composer Anthony Ritchie's Fanfare Kotahitanga was premiered at the start of the evening.
