Music Review: The Gloaming

Something of a super-group of Irish and American musicians, The Gloaming has garnered much praise in recent years for its contemporary take on traditional Irish music, with elements of ambient, experimental, jazz, post-rock and classical merging with folkier, more melancholic tones.

Its appearances at Dublin’s National Concert Hall have become must-see events.

Fans won’t have much to complain about here; it’s a beautifully recorded document that highlights their musicality and vision over six key performances, functioning as a perfect introduction to their unique, yet familiar, sound.
