Composer of smooth jazz radio staples, two-time Grammy Award-winning musician Chuck Mangione also enjoyed unlikely success as a voice actor. A Rochester New York native, Mangione was a flugelhorn and trumpet player and jazz composer who released more than 30 albums. As a teenager he performed with Dizzy Gillespie and Miles Davis, before he joined Art Blakey’s band in the 1960s. He was part of the Jazz Brothers group with sibling Gap. Chuck struck out on his own in the 1970s and enjoyed his biggest hit in 1977 with the top 5 single Feels So Good. He won his first Grammy (best album) in 1977 and won his second for the score for the movie The Children of Sanchez. After a few guest appearances in TV shows Mangione picked up a recurring role on animated TV comedy King of the Hill, a job which he greatly enjoyed. Chuck Mangione died on July 22 aged 84. — Allied Media
