Sarah Adams, 23, who competed in the inaugural season of the show with partner Richard Boobyer, 27, in 2012, is three weeks into her new job as a real estate agent for Bayleys in the Waikato.
The couple, who have bought two homes together, have been easing back into working life and adjusting to Ms Adam's new role after spending four months travelling around Europe and the US this year.
Before departing on their trip in June, Ms Adams left her marketing job with the Waikato Rugby Union and completed an online real estate certification course with the Open Polytechnic.
She then went on to become a licensed real estate agent.
"Everyone has real estate in the back of their mind and it's something I've always really enjoyed," Ms Adams said.
"I do enjoy houses and I love people and it was a really good fit for me."
She and Mr Boobyer, who runs his own landscaping business, had discussed the career change thoroughly. "I'm definitely putting in some pretty decent hours, but not begrudgingly at all, really enjoying it.
"He [Mr Boobyer] definitely gives me a helping hand and is a very good cook as well, so I come home at night and that's all sorted," Ms Adams said.
So far, Ms Adams had made two sales. "I've met a lot of people, seen some beautiful houses -- can't complain."
