His Eminence the 7th Yongzin Ling Rinpoche

H.H. The Dalai Lama has recognised Rinpoche as the reincarnation of His principal teacher, who passed away in the mid 1980s. He has taken care to oversee Rinpoche’s development since.

This first visit to New Zealand began in Auckland in late February, and takes in the Coromandel, Nelson, Dunedin, before concluding in Christchurch.
In an increasingly turbulent world, where environmental problems are presenting some major challenges to our global village, the value of inner peace and equanimity has never been more pressing.
Rinpoche observes a gentle lifestyle which informs his words of wisdom and kindness. His talks promote loving kindness as the basis of personal mental health and peace in the world. His mix of ancient wisdom and contemporary perspectives are applied to common challenges.
He has the lovely warm quality of humble light heartedness. Sustainable living requires dependence on those around us. Satisfaction and happiness in life comes from cooperating and coexisting with people and planet peacefully. Peace needs day to day mindfulness of our actions and reactions. And we all need non-material sources of satisfaction to reduce our carbon footprint. That he can bring alive the value to self and others, of respect and kindness, without using Buddhism gives him a broad appeal.
His Holiness The Dalai Lama has regular korero with scientists in various fields including quantum physics, neuroscience, psychology, education, and social sciences.
“Some people say Buddhism is not a religion, but a science of the mind. When you hear reports of quantum physicists approaching His Holiness in their efforts to understand the reality they are measuring, it seems to lend weight to these claims,” said Peter Small, trustee of the Dhargyey Buddist Centre in Dunedin.
